Learn about when to use articles (a / an / the) in English.

Practice: a/an, the or no article

Remember:

  • We don't usually use "the" or "a" when we are making generalisations.
  • We use "the" for talking about specific examples, when the listener knows exactly which one we are talking about.
  • We use "a" when we are talking about just one, and it doesn't matter which one.

There are 35 random questions here - choose the correct answer - a/an/the or nothing.

You might get the same question more than once  - hopefully this will help you if you make mistakes.
